For the sake of simplicity, this article will only deal with off page content, otherwise known as SEO articles.

SEO articles are one of the most important parts of your online marketing efforts. Many people go out and find extremely cheap content producing companies that take non-American writers to try and create value for your marketing campaigns. While they may save money initially, it can come back to hurt them in the end. The fact of the matter is that search engines like Google are not stupid. Their algorithms take into account poorly written material and excess usage of keywords. Not only that, many of the free articles directories out there providing links will not even accept poor quality work written by non-Americans. In order to ensure that your SEO articles are actually providing SEO benefit, here are some things you should consider.

First, the more content you have the better. While 200-300 word articles can be produced quickly and cheaply, they usually don't offer enough information to hold any real value, and they don't have enough keywords present to really make a dent in the sea of content that is the World Wide Web. Stick to articles 400-500 words and above to really make a difference.

Second, don't overuse your keywords. As a general rule, stick to a 1-3% keyword density. There are certain pieces of software that can include higher densities and still be effective but if you are new to internet marketing, stick to the "once every hundred words" rule to be safe.

Third, have some pertinent information but don't be overly specific. You'll want to stay away from brand names, company names, pricing information, and first person opinions in order to make your SEO articles ideal for blogs, article directories and more.
